The approach of NLP work can be described as a combination of coaching and therapy, or psychologically informed coaching.
Essentially, it is a highly relevant and beneficial contemporary approach, as it focuses on understanding and changing unhelpful thought patterns, behaviours, and emotional responses to achieve rapid transformational change, personal growth which is likely to improve your overall well-being. The approach uses a range of applications that stimulate and allows us to see hidden cognitive, emotional and belief systems in order for us to have an increased awareness of our internal environment. After all, if we are to help you design a road map towards your destination, we need to be fully present in the place we are starting. This is an all important step, almost everybody misses because we are too eager to look for what’s on the horizon and many do not want to look. Our desires often propel us forward to become entirely task driven, however many of us do not know the place we are starting from and more importantly, we have never given thought to knowing where we are going. Being aware of the place we want to get to it is important as it gives meaning and purpose to all of our actions and helps us to navigate through life consciously and consistently. Now imagine you are going to give someone you care about directions in a town they have never visited, you ask them “Do you know where you are?” followed by “Do you know where you are going?” – now imagine the answers to both of these questions are no or worse “it doesn’t matter” and yet this is the typical response for many people every single day. We have been there so please don’t assume we are judging. What adds flavour to this recipe for frustration and misery is that even though some people do realise the goal or destination, they almost always dont know why they want to get there or have failed to update their goal from a long time ago, so their reasons and lifestyle circumstances have significantly changed. Siddhartha Gotoma or the Buddha said we will experience suffering when get what we want and don’t want for these exact reasons.
We have integrated our approach with advancing forms of mindfulness, which strengthen meta cognitive systems (awareness) that previously have not been trained. This brings attention and focus to two lenses which are necessary for enhanced awareness. One lens (spotlight) will remain on the present moment and our internal environment of thoughts, feelings and beliefs and a greater lens (floodlight) shines the way towards the goal or destination, never losing sight. This way we can consciously make decisions that either support the way or divert us elsewhere. We believe we are the only provider who offers this modality and it is a crucial fundamental practice given that it focuses both awareness and direction, as we know, awareness precedes change.
